foods.
A gluten-free diet is essential for people who have celiac disease
or dermatitis herpetiformis (a gluten induced skin sensitivity).

Diabetes
The fiber in fruits and vegetables may also help in the management
of diabetes. The
American Diabetes Association 1994 dietary fiber recommendation
for individuals with diabetes is for 25 to 35 g of dietary
fiber per day from a wide variety of foods, such as fruits, vegetables,
including dried beans, legumes, and whole grains.
No Sulfides or preservatives
Sensible Foods Crunch Dried Fruit and Vegetable snacks contain
no sulfides or preservatives of any kind.
Sulfites are commonly used as a preservative in dried fruits to
maintain color.
Raw Foods
Because our unique Crunch Dried process is performed at very
low temperature (below 100 F°) all of our products are enzymatically
intact raw foods. Sensible Foods Crunch Dried Fruit Snacks primary
components are Enzymes, Chlorphyll, Fiber, Vitamins, Minerals
and Phytonutrients. All of these essential nutrients are easily
destroyed by heat during the cooking process and is obtained through
a raw food diet.
Enzymes
Enzymes participate in all processes of life, birth, growth and
maintenance. They are the catalysts that facilitate chemical reactions
by 108 to 1011 times.
No matter how much good food we eat, the food can't become part
of our bodies without enzymes. Some Proteins are too large to
pass through our blood vessels alone; enzymes must first transform
it into molecularly-miniscule amino acids which are utilized by
the body. Enzymes also produce necessary substances, breakdown
unnecessary substances and eliminate them from the body.
As stress and environmental pollution increase, so does our need
for enzymes. Since cooking and processing food destroys enzymes,
you can see why modern urban people with busy lives often lack
sufficient enzymes in their diet, and often suffer from indigestion,
stressed bodies, accelerated aging, and diseases.
Enzymes need vitamins and minerals to function properly, and
these are damaged or destroyed by cooking. Raw food supplies the
enzymes, vitamins and minerals you need.

Fiber
In the past, food-processing techniques focused on eliminating
fiber, considering it unnecessary and difficult to digest. Now,
fiber is recognized as useful in preventing and treating such
ailments as diabetes, obesity, and cancer.
Fiber is an excellent internal cleanser. It absorbs and removes
harmful waste products and poisonous materials, while reducing
cholesterol and heavy metal levels. Fiber absorbs water like a
sponge, and adheres to digestive tracks, which reduces digestion
duration. This cuts the time carcinogens stay inside the body.
According to a study at Washington University, lab mice with
large fiber intake were less likely to develop cancer, even when
injected with carcinogens: 39% of the mice fed a large quantity
of fiber developed cancer, compared to 69% of those not fed fiber.
Your colon contains approximately one hundred types of bacterium,
with a total of about a hundred trillion bacteria. Such beneficial
bacteria as lactobacillus or lactobacillus bifidus thrive on fiber
in the colon, thus retarding the growth of harmful bacteria. They
dissolve fiber to make vitamins and amino acids.
Fiber
can be obtained through fruits, vegetables, whole grains, sea
vegetables, and mushrooms, but not through most processed food.
And more fiber is obtained by eating raw food and fruits than
through cooked food.

Phytonutrients
The word "phyto" refers to plants; hence, phytonutrients
exist only in fruits and vegetables. They're usually found in
the rinds and other exterior features of plants to defend against
outside attacks by insects, etc. To strengthen the immunity of
our own bodies, we must consume the immune substances of plants.
That's why it's better to eat fruits and vegetables. Only 10%
of functional phytonutrients are known, but as more are revealed,
phytonutrients will factor greatly in health plans. And since
phytonutrients are more effective consumed fresh and whole, we
should consume them raw.
Phytonutrients
are essential for both good short-term and long-term health.
Unfortunately most people do not get nearly enough phytonutrients
to make a positive difference in their health.
Stay
Healthy Eat Right
As you age, eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables gives
new protective
benefits of antioxidants and phytonutrients.
Vitamins
People try to obtain vitamins through supplements, but artificially
synthesized vitamin products aren't as effective because of their
low absorption rate. In addition, excessive vitamins are lost
through our waste system. That's why it's absolutely best to obtain
vitamins through meals of raw, natural, food.
Our 60 trillion cells continuously react chemically. Vitamins
give them life and vitality, turn food into energy, and abet growth,
strength, and disease prevention. A person needs vitamins daily
and we must obtain them from our food.
Vitamins differ greatly in stability. Vitamin B1 and folic acid
are easily destroyed by heat, and vitamin C is the most unstable
of all -- it's easily affected by air, heat, acid and metals,
and readily dissolves in water.
Vitamin B1 dissolves in water and is easily affected by temperature
and contact with metals, alkali, and oxygen. Although vitamin
B2 is less sensitive to heat, it is vulnerable to light and can
be lost in water during cooking. And as much as 50% of vitamin
B6 is lost in cooking.
When stressed, we waste the vitamins inside us, especially such
antioxidants as vitamins A, C and E. With a lack of vitamins,
our immune systems weaken, causing insomnia, loss of appetite,
over-sensitivity, and lack of energy. These symptoms can occur
long before vitamin deficiency diseases develop, such as scurvy
(vitamin C deficiency), and beriberi (vitamin B1 deficiency).
Each vitamin has its unique deficiency symptoms, but vitamins
also have relationships with each other. Missing or lacking only
one can cause physical imbalances.
Raw
Foods Offer Nutrients in Abundance.
Energy & Stamina
Carbohydrates are the main, preferred source of energy for the
body; they are especially critical nutrients for the athlete who
has high-energy demands during physical activity. Stamina, power
and endurance are dependent on adequate carbohydrates in the diet.
Foods high in carbohydrates include complex starches such as cereals,
grains, rice, bread, legumes, oats, vegetables, and simple sugars
such as fruits, fruit juices, milk and sweets.

Fruits, vegetables Enhances energy and stamina reduces mood swings
& anxiety.

So
energy is your gasoline, and stamina is the size of your tank.
If you eat lots of fruits and vegetables, nuts and grains, you
are putting high-test gas into your tank, and if you exercise
regularly, you will be able to go a long way before you run out
of energy.
Weight Loss
Imagine that! You can eat anything you want, as much as you want
as long as it is raw, whole, live food.

Fight Disease
When it comes to food, we can't ignore the facts - or the science.
You need a healthy diet for a healthy life.
Research shows a healthy diet could help or prevent a number of
health problems, including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and
obesity. And that number keeps growing as researchers learn more
about how nutrition affects your health.
The Harvard School of Public Health reports that increasing fruit
and vegetable intake by as little as one serving per day can have
a real impact on heart disease risk. For every extra serving of
fruits and vegetables participants added to their diets, their
risk of heart disease dropped by 4 percent.
